hahzah!!! this be hopefully the start of something awesome.
Marie bushed the beautiful roan stallion holding back tears, her parents had sold him to an unknown buyer and now she had to get him ready to be picked up. she looked at his brown eyes so calm so brilliant in color. she remembered laying eyes on him at a county auction several ranches had put forth thier spring stock to sell, he was half the horse he is now. scrawny and not filled out, but she saw hope in him. he went for dirt cheap, she spent her whole summer finishing the training that he had been started under. her parents wanted him for thier cattle ranch but when the ranch went under the bank bought all but the house and three acres. the cattle was sold and she begged to keep Blue but with money short her parents put him in the local paper. she tried to win shows but the few she did win the profit was only enough to pay her entry cost for the next show. she snapped back to the present, "blue, i dont want you to leave, i wish i could just run away with you, but we would have bigger problems wouldnt we." she looked at his mane, she had to cut half way down his neck to get a piece of tree that had narled itself into it while she had been away visiting colleges for two weeks, she was furious with her parents who had just left him in the field. it was growing at least. she let his bridle path grow with it. it was soft right now like baby horse hair. Blue knickered as she pet him, blowing hot air into chest as she hug'd his face.
she could hear the gravel under a truck tire move, the person was here to pick him up.
"C'mon Blue lets meet your new owners." she lead him out of the barn and through the paddock. he shined from his recent bath, he didnt jump at the dogs barking or the cat that ran out from under a old tractor. "he doesnt even know whats going on, or he thinks he is going to show." she thought. she got to the gate and looked at the fancy truck and four hose trailer that was obviously new and had a small living quarters in it.
"great a hi roller show off. blue is your new pet..." she rolled her eyes. BLue was a working horse to her. he loved working cattle doing cutting events. not being some kids pony they ride for a week then let get fat and lazy in a pasture. Her parents came around with to her surprize her older brother. she hadnt seen him in five years.
"hey brat!" her brother said.
"what are you doing here?" she asked puzzled.
"they didnt tell you? they needed money so they sold me that horse, they said it was just out eating the little bit off grass they had." I looked at my parents, they had lied to him and me, they knew i was showing him and had a job in town that paid for his food.
"he is my horse and he wasnt just out eating grass, i was showing him and riding him and trying to earn money with him, along with trying help you two not have to pay for his feed, shoeing, vet bills and show fees. and you sold him to Ray, go for nothing Ray who hasnt helped us in seven years. and hasnt contacted us in five of those seven." Marie breathed in. she was furious, at her parents and her brother.
"well, then, i guess you dont want to come live with me on my horse ranch then." she could hear the sadness in her brothers voice.
"what do you mean??" she looked at him sternly.
"i want you to be my barn manager, organize events, keep barn tenents in check, help train new staff, you know be the boss of your own barn. i have worked very hard getting it started, but have one good bet on a race and sometimes you get done faster than you think. " her bother smiled he loved the short game races. but had he really one an upset so big he could build a ranch she wondered.
"fine, i will see this ranch. but i want blue to be my horse not some loan out to so richy rich pockets kid."
"I wouldnt have it any other way." her brother pulled down his shades and grinned.
"you'll love walking spur ranch. its paradise compared to here."
